Red Cross Picks Top IRS Exec as CEO

On April 18, the day after the tax filing deadline, the American Red Cross unanimously approved the commissioner for the Internal Revenue Service, Mark W. Everson, to serve as its new CEO. Everson starts his new position on May 29. Everson is the fourth chief executive of the ARC in eight years. He replaces retired Rear Admiral Marsha J. Evans, who resigned in 2005 amid criticism of the organization’s response to Hurricane Katrina.
